Nancy Hallbauer

Agent and Dispatch Coordinator
Nancy joined One Horn Transportation in January 2011, bringing her food industry expertise and customers into the One Horn fold to round out our service offerings. Her background includes experience as a broker agent as well as handling dispatch, all DOT paperwork, and driver recruitment for an asset-based carrier. Nancy truly has empathy for our drivers’ day-to-day challenges, as many years ago she even drove trucks for two years. She loves direct customer contact and coordinating our agent team to ensure that our all customers’ needs are covered 24/7. Nancy says, “I feel like I have found a home at One Horn, because of the dedication to customer service, highly-advanced technology, teamwork, and internal support.”
Having found the “niche of a lifetime” at One Horn on the professional side, her personal passions include digital painting and artwork, and her grandchildren.

Karl Shulz
Independent Agent
Karl started working with One Horn in June 2011, with experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory with Artex in Brenham, TX. Initially teaming up with another agent, Karl is now building on his own customer base, targeting companies with weekly refrigerated freight from the Northeast to the West (CA, AZ, NV, WA, OR), where he can leverage his strong carrier base. Karl also brings the foundation of his B.A. in Finance from the University of Houston.
Committed to superior customer service, Karl’s philosophy is that all businesses within the same class have access to the same resources and markets, therefore what ultimately separates them is their people. “Learn you customers inside and out. Find out what will make them and their business succeed, and give it to them every time,” says Karl.

Judi Button
Independent Agent
Judi joined One Horn in June 2011, bringing her experience as a freight broker and a trainer of freight brokers. Customer service has always been priority number one for Judi. Prior to her career as a freight broker, Judi owned and ran several restaurants, an industry where providing superior customer service as well as inspiring a staff of restaurant personnel is the key to success. Judi’s love of interacting with people and taking care of their needs served her well in the restaurant business and is a natural asset in the transportation arena. “Customer service is still my top priority–I was bred that way,” Judi says. “I love helping people take care of their needs and work as the liason to ensure that everyone gets what they want.”
Judi’s educational background in math education enabled her to create the training program she developed for independent dispatchers and freight agents. Judi also enjoys staying on top of the industries trends, CSA2010, and the many changing regulations that will effect the transportation industry. She is also a member of OOIDA (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association).

Michele Alfano
Independent Agent
Michele joined One Horn Transportation in October 2011 with 19 years experience in the transportation industry, including five years of experience working with frozen foods. She worked for ten years at Penske Logisics, in their transportation department handling over-the-road and local fleets. In November of 2002, Michele moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked on site for a broker, handling one of their largest customers, a division of Nestle. She recently moved back to St Louis, Missouri to be closer to her family.
“The transportation industry is a huge jigsaw puzzle and I love the day-to-day challenges. No day is ever the same, no load is ever the same. One Horn Transportation is the perfect place for me…the sky is the limit,” says Michele. “Moving back to St. Louis to be close to family and joining the One Horn Team who makes you feel like family is perfect!”

Vince Pugh
Independent Agent
Vince joined One Horn Transportation in January 2012. He has a diverse background with 25 years experience in the transportation industry, including LTL Sales and Operations, and Truckload Sales (both Asset-Based and Brokerage). He has also worked in Driver Recruiting and has driven Over the Road with both Dry Van and Flatbed carriers. Based in Central Ohio, Vince’s shipping customers are predominately located in the Midwestern states of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Illinois. They are a diverse group consisting of Wholesale and Retail Distributors, Manufacturers, and Warehousing Companies. He specializes in Full Truckload and Partial Dry Van, and Flatbed freight.
“I believe there is a huge opportunity in our industry to do the ordinary things extraordinarily,” says Vince. “My goal every day is service my customers (both Shippers and Drivers) better than the LAST guy in order to win new business. But even more so, I want to consistently do things better than the NEXT guy, in order to keep that business!”
